and arthritis |

Arthritis is a common term for
the two main types of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory
condition that affects the whole body. It can produce severe pain and
disability. Osteoarthritis is the wear and tear arthritis, degenerative
arthritis. This often produces pain and stiffness. One of the most common
statements that we hear as osteopaths is
its arthritis; there is nothing
that can be done for that. This is however far from the truth. Although
you cannot improve the wear in the joint, the body is one unit and therefore
improving the mechanical strain through the body can reduce mechanical
pressure resulting in an improvement in pain and stiffness. Arthritis can
be helped greatly through treatment and also with advice regarding your
activities, your bed, your posture and your exercise. Our osteopath will
give you as much advice as possible so that you can manage your symptoms. |
